Basics of Safeguarding
Overview
In unit nine, participants will be introduced to the importance of safeguarding in the context of driver training. They will also learn about the legal and ethical obligations to protect the well-being of their learners, gaining knowledge and being able to implement safeguarding protocols, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed in all areas of driver education training. This training is an externally accredited Level 1 certificate which is the foundational level of safeguarding training. It is designed for individuals who interact with children or vulnerable adults as part of their role, but who do not have direct responsibility for their care. Level 1 training provides a basic understanding of what safeguarding is, why it's important and how to recognise potential signs of abuse of neglect.
Who Is It For?
Designed for Potential Driving Instructors undertaking training, or Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) wishing to refresh and update their knowledge and instructional techniques.
Training Type
Delivered as In-Car Training, this unit blends theory with practical application — allowing participants to understand and integrate road rules and signs into real driving scenarios alongside learner drivers.

What Do You Get?
Attendance Certificate
Following the training session and completion of the simple quiz with the trainer you will receive an FAA Level 1 Award in Awareness of Safeguarding (RCQF) Qualification Code 603/5635/2 Ofqual regulated from Nuco Training Ltd. This will automatically register you as completing Unit 9.
Unit 2 Completion Certificate
Awarded on completing in-car and online assignments. You have six months to complete. click here
Full Qualification Certificate
On completion of all thirteen units of the Introduction to Driving Education Award you will receive your full qualification certificate which is SCQF Level 5 | 25 credit points. (You have two years to complete all thirteen units click here
