Overview

In unit four, participants will understand how to develop route planning skillsand understand the benefits of choosing various routes. They will explore how route decisions can enhance driving competencies and decision-making abilities. They will also develop the skill of identifying driver faults. This will equip participants with a deeper understanding of different types of errors and the crucial link between levels of instruction and physical or verbal intervention. This will result in an ability to plan more client-centred routes/lessons.

Who Is It For?

Designed for Potential Driving Instructors undertaking training, or Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) wishing to refresh and update their knowledge and instructional techniques.

Training Type

Delivered as In-Car Training, this unit blends theory with practical application — allowing participants to understand and integrate road rules and signs into real driving scenarios alongside learner drivers.

Learning Outcomes

    You will be able to describe the benefits and importance of route planning and how technology can both assist and distract drivers.

    You will be able to understand the reason for changing the route, when appropriate, to help the learner achieve their goal.

  • 03

    You will be able to discuss what a driving fault is and where it would be marked on the driving test report form.

  • 04

    You will be able to understand how to spot a fault and describe when the level of instruction can alter the outcome of the situation.

  • 05

    You will be able to explain and demonstrate how and when trainers would use physical and verbal intervention.
