I am Andy Lloyd, an Innovative Driving Education Academy Trainer and owner of Lloyds Driver Training. I am also an IMTD Member, ADINJC Committee Member and Chairman of the Southern Driving Instructor Association.
My professional background spans the British Army, HGV training, powerboat instruction, and professional-level scuba diving. Across all these disciplines, I have focused on coaching individuals through complex, safety-critical skills while building confidence and deep understanding.
I bring this same philosophy into driver education. We don’t just teach people to pass a test — we guide them to become capable, independent, and responsible drivers. I strongly believe the industry must evolve, recognising that we are not simply instructors, but teachers and coaches.
As an experienced trainer, I am passionate about reshaping driver education. In today’s world, we should coach and educate learners to become confident, thoughtful, and responsible road users — not just train them to pass a test. This shift in mindset is essential to raising standards across the industry.
Based in the Portsmouth area, Andy provides training across the local region, specialising in focused and accessible instructor development.
